J&K govt to host its maiden SARAS Fair 2023 from February 4 to 14
- The fair will be organized at Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu.
- In the fair artisans and women self-help groups from across the country will showcase their crafts, handcrafts, handloom, and foods.
- The national-level food and cultural fair will showcase unique and famous indigenous products from different states and union territories of the country.
- It is organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Rural Development.

- Ladakh Tourism Department has collaborated with the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) to develop Hydro tourism at the world’s highest hydropower project on the Indus River, near Alchi in Leh.
- Aquatic sports like Jet Skiing, Motorboating, Ice Skating during winter, and boating during the summer season will be rolled out in a phased manner.
- Similarly, the tourism department is also introducing border tourism in cooperation with the Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army.

- Asia’s second and country’s first cable suspension bridge “Bajrang Setu” is being constructed at Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, and will be completed by July 2023.
- This bridge is coming up next to the famous 90-year-old Laxman Jhula.
- Laxman Jhula was closed in 2022 as it wasn’t safe for pedestrians anymore.
- However, it will not be removed and will be preserved as a heritage.
- The construction of the new bridge would cost Rs 67 crores.

President also virtually laid the foundation stone for the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Jaipur,
Rajasthan. The project is being implemented by state-owned energy firm SJVN Limited through its subsidiary.
The project is expected to be commissioned by March 2024.
The maximum usage charges have been set at Rs. 2.57 per unit, which will provide cheaper electricity to
consumers. In addition to helping the government achieve its renewable energy target of 500 GW by 2030, the project will also reduce carbon emissions by 27,85,077 tonnes.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the Ladli Bahina Scheme
To provide Rs 1,000 per month to women from financially poor backgrounds in the state, where the Assembly polls are due this year-end.
A sum of Rs 60,000 crore will be spent on this scheme in five years. Poor women from all sections can benefit from this scheme even if they have been receiving benefits from other welfare programs.
