- According to Rigveda (7th Mandal), this battle took place on the banks of the river Ravi also known as Paurushni
- The battle of 10 Kings/ Dasarajna took place in the Early Vedic Age.
- Early Vedic: 1500-1000 BCE
The battle was fought between the two powerful Rigvedic tribes. The Bharata tribe was on one side and a confederacy of ten other tribes.
- The Bharata king (chief) Sudas defeated the powerful confederacy of 10 other tribes
- The battle broke out because of a dispute between Vashishta and Vishwamitra.
- Vishwamitra supported the group of ten tribes in which five were Aryans and another five were non-Aryans.

Battle of the Hydaspes
Alexander invaded India in 326 BC. In 326 BC, the Battle of Hydaspes was fought between Alexender the great and Porus along the banks of Haydaspes river( Jhelum river) in Punjab.
Porus, the King of Paurava, ruled the area between the rivers Hydaspes (modern Jhelum) and Acesines (Chenab)
- Alexander formed an alliance with Taxiles (also known as Ambhi Kumar), the King of Taxila. They combined their forces against Taxiles’s neighbour, the King of Hydaspes, King Porus
- Though Porus was defeated, Alexander was impressed by Porus’s might so he asked Porus to rule his dynasty under his name.
- Alexander III, the King of Macedonia, always referred to as Alexander the Great ruled from 336 to 323 BC.

- Seleucus I Nicator was one of the Diadochi (general) of Alexander the Great, who went on to become the founder of the Seleucid Empire, a superstate that extended from modern-day Turkey to the borders of Pakistan.
- By the year 305 B.C. Selecus I Nikator came into conflict with the Mauryan Empire under Chandragupta Maurya.
- In 305 BC Chandragupta defeated the army of Selecus Nicator, therefore a treaty was concluded between selects and Chandragupta in which Seleucus Nicator ceded the Hindu Kush, Punjab, and parts of Afghanistan to Chandragupta Maurya
- (KANDHAR, HEART, KABUL & MAKRAN)
- Chandragupta presented him with 500 elephants
- The treaty was followed by a Matrimonial alliance between the two in which Chandragupta Maurya married Helena, who was the daughter of Selecus Nicator.
- Megasthenes a Greek ambassador was sent by Seleucus in the Chandragupta Maurya court.

Kalinga War
- The Kalinga War was fought between Ashoka, the great Mauryan Emperor, and the ruler of the State of Kalinga
- The Rock Edict XIII describes brightly the horrors and miseries of the Kalinga War and its impact on Ashoka’s life.
- 8 years after coronation, Ashoka fought the horrible Kalinga War in 261 BC.(in modern-day Odisha)
- The fight is thought to have taken place on Dhauli Hills in Dhauli, which is located on the banks of the Daya River.
- Kalinga was strategically located, with trade routes reaching to Southeast Asia. It possessed several significant ports and a powerful fleet.
- During the Kalinga War, Raja Ananta Padmanabha was the King of Kalinga.
- The Kalinga War had a significant impact on Ashoka.
- In other words, Bherighosha was replaced with Dhammaghosha.

Battle of Venni
- The most significant Early Chola ruler is Karikala Chola, who ruled around 270 BC and is mentioned in the Sangam Literature.
- Karikala Chola is best known for winning the famous “Battle of Venni” in which both the Pandyas and Cheras were crushed by him.
- The current location of Venni is near Thanjaur.
- Some legends say that he won the whole of Ceylon Kingdom, after the Battle of Venni.

Battle of Peshawar
- The Battle of Peshawar between Raja Jayapala and Mahmud of Ghazni took place in the year 1001 CE.
- Raja Jayapala was the ruler of the Hindu Shahi dynasty in the region, while Mahmud of Ghazni was a prominent Muslim conqueror from the Ghaznavid dynasty.
- The battle resulted in the defeat of Raja Jayapala and marked the beginning of Mahmud’s invasions into the Indian subcontinent.
- In all, Mahmud Ghazni invaded India seventeen times during AD 1000–1026.
- Between AD 1014-1019, Mahmud enriched his treasury by looting the temples of Nagarkot, Thanesar, Mathura, and Kannauj.
- Somnath attack: The attack on the Somnath temple in Saurashtra in AD 1025 was Mahmud’s most ambitious Indian campaign.
- Mahmud captured the city after the grim struggle in which more than 50,000 defenders lost their lives.
- Mahmud left Somnath after a fortnight when he came to know that the Gujarat king Bhima-I had completed preparations to confront him.

First Battle of Panipat
▶ The First Battle of Panipat (21 April 1526) fought near a small village of Panipat( Haryana), this marked the beginning of Mughal Empire in India.
▶ The battle was fought between the invading forces of Zahir- ud-din Babur and the last empire of the Delhi Sultanate, Lodi Empire during the rule of Ibrahim Lodi.
▶ it was Babur’s tactics of Tulughma and Araba that led him to victory.
